Equatorial Africa (Coffees Of The World)

Ethiopian Washed Yirgaqcheffe
Presently we are importing harrar which is grown in the eastern highlands. It has medium acidity and full body with a distinctive mocha flavour. Harrar is a dry processed coffee bean, with sorting and processing done almost entirely by hand. More than any other african countries the population consumes 25% of the crop and is a huge positive force in their economy. We use ethiopian beans in blending here at safari also to produce dancing bear and moka java estate and it's ranks at the top in cup quality according to our tastings. If you like eth

Kenya Aa Select
Described as dry and winey like a burgundy this coffee is considered one of the top 5 in the world. Before any coffee is exported it has to undergo testing by the coffee board of kenya. These beans are purchased through mills at the nairobi auctions. Kenya is sold by lots at auction and is graded either aa or ab with aa being the highest. Recently more difficult to source over the years unless willing to pay premium prices we have it! it's medium roasted with a good amount of acidity and snap. If you like kenya try tanzania or ethiopian.
$18.95 - -
Tanzanian Peaberry Select
When a coffee cherry forms it usually consists of 2 halves formed in each bean. Peaberries occur when only one half develops and are sorted through the milling process. Sometimes called "pearl" coffees they produce an intense taste amplified by the smaller bean. Very high in acidity it represents a bright flavorful cup from africa that is similar to kenyas but not ethiopians. We roast it medium for a bright acidity profile. You might also try kenya if you like this coffee.

The Americas (Coffees Of The World)

Bolivia Caranavi -Nature Friendly
Bolivian coffee is known for its classic and clean taste. Very delicate, very bright with fruity notes this coffee is seasonal so it's not always available. The bolivian we carry here is grown on environmentally friendly farms based in carnavi and trucked out of the country to peru which is the nearest port. Pricing reflects supply issues. Very limited importing now so we suggest colombian or honduras as a good alternate.
$17.95 - -
Colombian Supremo Bucaramanga
Colombian supremo known for being one of the smoothest coffee profiles in the world was brought there for cultivating by jesuit priests from other parts of the Caribbean in the 18th century. It is the third greatest exporter of coffee in the world after brazil and vietnam but unlike those sources colombian is excellent both in blending or on it's own. We tend to roast it medium for a rich, smooth cupping profile that's similar to kona fancy. You might also try costa rica, bolivia, mexican and kona blend.
$14.95 - -
Costa Rica Tarrazu SHB Tigre
Coffee production in the country began in the later part of the 18th century and was introduced from ethiopia to the meseta central area of costa rica which has ideal soil and climate. A mild, sweet, brisk cup, we roast it light and use it frequently in our espresso blends. Give guatemala, chiapas mexico, colombian a whirl if you enjoy costa rica.
$15.95 - -
Guatemala Huehuetenango
The coffee industry started up in guatemala in the mid 19th century and flourished in antigua and amatitlan. Hawaiian Kona Fancy
Kona coffee is grown in a climate of sunny mornings, cloud or rain in the afternoons, little wind and mild nights. In other words perfect when you mix it with the volcanic mineral rich soil. Brought to the islands from cuttings from Brazils over time many family farms developed starting with Japanese who were brought in to work other farms. There are around 800 farms on the Kona coast presently serving the world markets (Heavenly Farms is our source)harvesting a coffee that is extremely rich and extremely smooth and that also makes a great gif

Honduras SHG -Nature Friendly
Honduras beans are harvested at elevations of around 4500 feet. Typically a naturally grown, wet processed coffee, exporting takes place around december. The character of the bean is one of a long smooth finish with medium acidity. We also used it frequently with our best selling black pearl dark and rainforest blends. You might also enjoy the bolivia, colombian and costa rica. Brand new to the safari coffee menu.
$15.95 - -
Mexican Chiapas SHG Turquese
Coffees grown in the southern regions of mexico, chiapas for one tend to be delicate, dry and acidy. They produce and nice clean cup. The coffees we presently imported from mexico are environmentally farmed and mildly roasted. You will also enjoy bolivia, costa rica, colombian and guatemala.

The Pacific (Coffees Of The World)

Celebes Kalossi Toraja (Sulawesi)
One of our very richest tasting coffees. Celebes is an indonesian island formed by volcanoes and is known for the altitude of its mountains. Lot's of body and low acidity but cleaner than sumatra due to it's washed process.
$16.95 - -
Indian Monsooned Malabar
Indian monsooned malabar is one of a kind for it's unique dry processing void of almost all moisture that other coffees still hold. The beans swell and lose their acidity after they are harvested because of exposure to the monsoon rains and winds. The result is a highly nutty, spicy cup that brews light and mild. You also might enjoy cowboy coffee too.

Blends & Roasts

Black Pearl Dark- Nature Friendly
Several years ago the challenge of producing a dark roasted blend of coffees that was not bitter became our primary goal here at safari coffee. There are many French and Italian blends that provide a good kick in the pants but only a few will cup smoothly without the smokey bitter aftertaste. Black pearl is harvested from high altitude, nature friendly regions of south and central america. Due to progressive ecological practices where growers command better pricing, these areas produce vibrant berries that are picked and screened carefully. The

Continental Europa
For years our house coffee, it consists of two different shades of roast colors. . . A dark Italian and a light colombian. This profile would be found in many coffeehouses in middle europe. Cowboy Coffee "Campfire Roast"
Take in the sunrise around the morning campfire with cowboy. . . . . . The very lightest and densest roast profile we can possibly do at 375 degrees. This light colombian is a throw back to the 50's and 60's before dark roasted coffees became popular. Suggested for the old timer who misses how coffee used to taste before dark roasted ruled the coffee shelves. If you like cowboy try Indian malabar, costa rica, chiapas mexico, guatemala or bolivia.
$14.95 - -
French Roast "Serengeti"
Roasted at 425 degrees this oily bean is just a shade less dark than the Italian roast. French roast is a little tricky because if you over roast it you lose the subtler tones and flavors of the beans. Under roast and customer will not get the taste jolt they expect. The irony is French roast has the least amount of caffeine of almost any bean. We use colombians, guatemalas and bolivias for their briskness and personality. Also might enjoy dancing bear, black pearl, continental, sumatra dark and Italian roast.
$15.95 - -
Italian Roast- "Il Caffe E Il Nero"
Our most intense and darkest roast of colombian supremos roasted upwards of 450 degrees and cooled only briefly. This coffee crackles hot and smokey out of the coffee roaster and delivers a strong bite so be ready! we also suggest sumatra dark, black pearl and kona dark.

Kona Coast Island Blend
Coffee was first brought to the island in 1817 but the plantings were unsuccessful. In 1825 chief boki traveling to brazil picked up some coffee plants of the bourbon variety were they eventually thrived off the kona coast. Always expensive because of demand in asia and pests problems like the coffee berry borer we recommend this blend to allow you to enjoy the properties of great kona coffee without the expense. We always take a minimum of pure kona (25%) and blend it with colombian supremos to form a smooth cup that compares very closely to k

Kona Prime Dark
Our richest dark roast 100% pure kona from aloha farms. Coffee is roasted at our physical location so its the freshest kona sold in north county. Very expensive right now due to extremely limited supplies being harvested for export presently. If you're having sticker shock its because kona is not exporting coffee at this time too much damage to the crop from the bore bettle. You might subsitute with sumatra dark, Italian roast or black pearl.

Years ago this was a award winner in the blend category. Very delicious all the way around.
