About Amazon Prime Video
On September 2, 2006, Amazon Unbox was launched. With the increasing library and members, Amazon added its Prime Video membership and renamed the Internet video-on-demand service as Amazon Instant Video on Demand. Today, Amazon Prime Video offers a wide variety of films and television shows for purchase or rent, as well as offers a selection of original content released by Amazon Studios and other licensed acquisitions in the Amazon Prime subscription service.
Depending on the country, access to Prime Video may or may require a full time Prime subscription; if it doesn’t require it, as is the case in the United States, customers can access Prime Video through a video-only membership. The Amazon Prime Video prices also vary depending on the customer’s preferred bundle.
Amazon supports up to 4K UHD and HDR streaming depending on the device used and the title. Some titles, for example, support 1080p (HD) streaming with Dolby Digital Plus or 5.1 Dolby Digital audio while other titles support Dolby Atmos.
Customers may also stream on the web with an HRML5-compatible device (i.e., supported in Firefox, Chrome, and/or Opera, among others). The service is also available on “Fire” devices including smartphones, PCs, and tablets as well as other devices with a broadband connection like television, consoles, and Blu-ray players.
