About TaxAct
TaxAct Holdings Inc. has its beginning as 2nd Story Software, a company founded by Lance Dunn in 1998. It was only in 2013 when its present name was assumed, a year after Blucora acquired the company. Today, the American tax preparation software company offers its award-winning products to individuals, corporations and organizations. Business Insider, for example, has cited its 2018 TaxAct Online Freelancer Edition.
TaxAct offers two formats for its tax preparation software. First, the TaxAct Online is available for web users. Second, the TaxAct Desktop is suitable for people who prepare their tax returns on their home computers. Third, the TaxAct Express is a mobile-friendly software available for iOS and Android platforms.
The TaxAct Online format is available in four types: Free, Freelancer, Premium, and Pro. These are designed for different users, such as the Freelancer version suitable for self-employed taxpayers and the Premium version for organizations that want audit protection.
