Maranao Rendang
Maranao is one of the Indigenous peoples of the Philippines, living in southern island Mindanao. Their proximity to our Indonesian and Malaysian neighbours meant trading and bartering of goods long before the Spanish came to our shores. No wonder there are many flavours shared by our peoples. Rendang is one of those dishes. The Maranao version uses more fresh herbs pounded into paste, called palapa making the final dish more fragrant.
Served with rice and achara.
